I had to post what happened to me yesterday. I got a text message on my cell phone from a local phone number. It had no name association but it looked like a customers phone number. It said "Hi.R u OK?" I replied "yes I guess. who is this?" Well in no time at all I started getting messages sent to contacts in my Gmail account. (I have my cell phone set up to get my GMail.) I could tell because my phone dings when it sends an email. It was dinging non stop. There had been ~ 28 emails sent to my contacts from GMail. Luckily GMail noticed the amount of messages going out in such a short amount of time that it inactivated my account. I reactivated my account with no problem, but I was leery because I had to do it through a text message and was afraid it may all start over again. It did not. In hind sight I should called the phone number and ask if they texted me. The spam that was sent had a link in the email. I have clicked on the link and it goes to an online pharmacy for Viagra and such. As of now it looks as though no infection has occurred on the computer I opened the link on. I just feel bad that my contacts got spammed but there is not much I can do about. So just a reminder, be very careful even with text messages. Oh and I got another text that looked suspicious from someone that I know and it had Chinese type language as the message. Needless to say I did not open it!

Jan. 7th was very busy at #CES. It was very crowded to say the least. I got a quick look @ the new 3D TV that is out. I could not get close to the 3D glasses to use them . CNBC did the closing bell from CES and I got to see some of that. One of the things I may go to see today is a debate between Ron Jeremy (porn star) and a pastor on the subject of online porn. There is so much to see. What I normally do is go the first day and just sort of scope out what I want to see then return the next few days to see those things. On of the technologies I was looking at was software that was able to run multiple computers off one computer. I want to possibly run computer training for people and this would be great to have many computers running off one server and I could monitor them. Also of interest to me was wireless electricity. This sends electricity through the air. This also looks cool. I could not get very close to the exhibit but maybe today. Microsoft had their windows phone and Zune and a big booth. OK off to get ready for another day @ #CES.

I am sitting in the airport now checked in. I have to comment on something non computer related. As I was leaving my hotel there was a group of kids in the lobby that looked like high school students ready to go on a field trip. I was very surprised to learn that were heading for basic training and then off to fight. My God! These kids were way too young! I could not believe how young they ALL looked. I guess I really am getting old! God Bless them and may He keep them safe and have them return safely.
Airport security wasn't any worse than usual. I am very glad about that. It can be a hassle. Next post should be from Las Vegas & CES. Stay tuned.

Well I have decided to give an update after an eternity! I got rid of my shop. Not by choice really. Landlord wanted to up rent by quite a bunch and I just couldn't pay what they wanted. So I pulled the building out which was mine and sold it. I am still working out of house doing mostly pick up work at homes and bringing it home to repair. All of this may have been for the best because my customers are still looking for me to do work even though I had left quite abruptly. I wanted to give more notice but I wasn't going to pay the exurbanite amount of rent. I do not have my home phone listed so most people are calling my mom because may dad's name is the same as mine so they call that phone number. Thanks mom for being my secretary and assistant!!

Tomorrow 1-5-10 I leave for Las Vegas for the #CES convention. I am excited. I really enjoyed it last year and am sure I will this year. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances I have to go alone. I will be sending tweets and updates live from the show floor. If you want to follow I am mflstc on twitter. I may also do live talk after the show on Ustream May also post updates here if I see real cool stuff!

Wow I can't believe it has been about 9 months since I posted last! Well a lot has happened so I will give a little update. First I will just let everyone know that I have completed my degree. I now have a Bachelor's degree in information technology. This is a real relief. No more homework! The shop was keeping me busy during the first part of the year. I had a lot of business the first 2 months of the year. It has since slowed down which is both good and bad. Good because I needed the break, bad because I need business to keep the shop open. I am sure it wil all work out. I hope to update more often and I intend to update my web page a bit more often. Thanks for reading.

Hello again! Work has been OK at the shop. I think it has been a bit slower due to the fact that school is out and kids shouldn't be on the computers they should be outside! A bigger percentage of the work I am getting in is laptops. I will be closed from June 25 and will reopen 10AM on July 2. I am going to Atlantic City for a conference. I will have my calls forwarded to my cellphone while I am away. So call if you need to set up an appointment. The other news is my Netcast. I have had it on my webpage for a few weeks and I am going to try to post one a month, at least. I will give tips about anything computer related I am able to answer. I just wanted to let everyone know about a neat site I found for business reviews. I was looking at a site called Angies List but it did not have local businesses. The site called Insider Pages has a listing for my business. If you have something to say about my service, please post it here. If you have a negative comment that is okay to post as long as you have asked me about the problem and I have not fixed the problem. I try to give the best service I can but I can make mistakes also. Here I am still in business! It is tough to keep stock because it changes prices so often. It usually goes down so I am stuck with higher priced stock. Oh well. I have been getting a lot of computers in filled with viruses, spyware and adware. Most of these machines have one thing in common, LIMEWIRE! Folks, do not let your kids use this program. You will be bringing your computer to me to get rid of these problems. In the worst cases the hard drive needs to be reformatted. These viruses, spyware and adware are getting embedded deeper into the operating system and much harder to just delete. Hey, I love the business but you will lose the data that you have on the computer if this happens. Go to my site and download the free programs to help to keep your computer safe. If you really want to keep the computer safe buy an old computer for the kids and load a Linux operating system on it such as Ubuntu . Linux is less susceptible to viruses, spyware and adware. This can be done very easily. Plus the kids will learn something about working with computers by loading the Linux operating system. That is my advice. Business has been steady. I could always use more though, so if you know of someone that needs computer work keep me in mind. I also wanted to remind folks that I do carry some computer parts and accessories in stock. Well it has been about a month since I posted anything. I guess it is time to give an update on what has been happening. The business has been steady. I keep getting new customers. I am of course hoping that this continues. For the most part not much else has changed for me. I do know that I am tired of this weather. Oh yea, I have started my new job. Still at Merck just in a different department. I am now working 12 hour shifts and have a 7 day break every month. I wanted to go to the 12 hour shifts to get the 7 day break. I can now put more hours in at the shop. I have added a picture of my t-shirts on the newsletter page. If you are interested in buying one email me to let me know. I have posted a picture of a power supply that I had fry on me. (I had mentioned in a previous post I would review some of the products I have been using.) If you look closely you can see the black around the resistor. This took out the motherboard. The company told me they would replace the power supply but they did not know if this was the cause of the of the motherboard frying. Yeah I know this was the cause of the motherboard frying!! The fuse on the power supply is good. It did not pop. I told the company I would not be buying anything from them again. This power supply ran for about 7 hours before it took a shit. I would think the power supply was the cause. What do you think? Until next time.

I have been off work the past 2 days sick. I was getting the chills and was afraid I was going to get real sick. I guess when the temperature is 3 degrees this will happen. I just had an interesting learning experience. I was setting up a router and was having difficulties. I thought there was an IP conflict but I wasn't sure. I was doing this for a customer and I have had the same problem in the past with Netgear routers. I swore all of the Netgear routers I was getting were bad. Well I actually had to call tech support. (ACCKK!) I found out that Netgear routers and Verizon modems are setup with the same default IP address. Now, what I want to know is why in the hell doesn't Netgear tell you that this could happen? I could not find anything in the FAQ pages at Netgear on this. I had to call tech support and they told me quite quickly what the problem was. This just pisses me off! I spent about 4 hours trying to figure this out. I am glad that the customer was understanding. They were about to go and buy a new router on my device when I sort of figured this out. Ok next. I called Verizon about my Palm Treo 700p problem. They are going to send me a new phone by Thursday. I hope I have better luck with this one! Well I am going back to work tonight so wish me luck. I hope I stay healthy.

Humm, where to start. I have been getting business in a bit at a time. It is enough to keep me busy. I have had some expected jobs canceled but that is only a small set back. I continue to get work to replace what is lost. I got a very nice open house present that has already been very useful. (Thanks Rev. and Queen!) I continue to keep busy with work and school. I cannot wait until school is over! I have been able to keep up with most of my stuff with the free time I have at the shop. If I have time tomorrow I will try to get some of the pictures up that I have mentioned before. Oh, I have gotten jobs that I have to do after I close the shop. I also ordered some new shirts and such with logos. If you want yours let me know I will order it for you. They do look pretty cool! I will post pictures of these when I get them in and have time. ( yeah I know same story!) I wanted to pitch a bit of a bitch. Two months ago I got a Palm Treo 700p. It kept crashing and I got Verizon to help me fix it. Well it is acting up again after one month. It keeps locking up and the battery message comes up that it is low even when it has 90% charge in and I know this is right because I just charged it. It will shut off and I will not get calls. So if I don't answer my phone it may because I did not know it shut off. I would not buy this phone again and I would advise anyone else to read some reviews about it before buying it. (Like I should have rather than impulse buying!) Until next time!!

WHEW!! Grand opening is over! Winners have been posted on my site. It was a fun, learning experience to say the least. I found out how much fun running a business really is :0 One thing I did find out is that I am really at the mercy of my suppliers when it comes to buying and using parts. I will give my story on some of this when I have my homework done and a bit more free time. I am grateful to all of my family and friends that have supported me in starting the business. I had many friends and family stop by to say hello and pass the word along about my business. Helga and other family members (I put this in for you Mary!) passed out pens, flyers and business cards at work. This has brought me business from co workers. I am glad for the support also. I am looking forward to the weeks ahead and even the challenges to come. I will get this business thing down yet. Check back for my words about some of the products I having been using and my reviews of them (some with pictures).

1 Pm on the second day of the shop being open. No one is busting the door down to do business. This is really no surprise, because as Helga has told me several times, I did not advertise. At least friends and family have stopped by to say hello and visit. I am getting some things done that I have wanted to do for a long time and have not had the time. This is a good thing. I have been doing some business but it is mostly jobs that I would have gotten without the shop being open. Well have many more things to accomplish today so until next time c'ya. Well the big day is almost here!! I am officially opening my shop on January 2nd. I do this with a bit of excitement and a bit of unease. Damn it takes a bit of money for a business start up and it is hard to tell if the people are going to frequent your business. I guess you have to take a chance! I do not know how I am going to keep business hours with a full time job but I will give it my best shot. In the near future (I hope) I am going to put a few a pics of the grand opening here or on my newsletter page. Come back and take a look. I have to thank my family and my girlfriend Helga for being supportive and helping me to get things ready so I can open for business. Well I thought I would give an update on what is happening. I have been busy with computers, school and my job. Next November is the end of school, Hooray!! I have bought a place to move my computer business to. This may be a good thing or a bad thing. Time will tell! I wanted to comment about the online super sales I have tried to get in on. I have read on digg about the frustration of others on Amazon's XBOX 360 $100 deal. I too tried to get an XBOX. I was refreshing the computer and actually got the xbox up and the add to cart button. I tried to add it to the cart and the site would not let me add it. When I refreshed the page I was told the item was sold out! All of this happen within 30 seconds. I think this suxs! They had 1000 of them at $100 and they went this fast? Oh well. Ok I have finished my rant on that. I also wanted to comment on the Windows operating system. I do not know why people continue to use it. Yes I know it is the most popular and most programs are made for it but it so hard to keep maintaned. I should not complain because it makes money but peolpe could have a better overall set up with a Mac. Ok until next time I have time and something to rant about c'ya!

I think I got this blogging thing down. I have been busy at work and at home. I just started to study for my MCSE and also working on my BS in Information Technology. There may also be layoffs at work. I have to just keep trying to get certifications so I can get a job doing something I want to do. As I have time I will add to this even though no one will probably read it!
